Data loss situations we handle

Deleted data is almost never immediately destroyed: it becomes invisible to the system until it is overwritten. This is why the most important thing to do is stop using the device or storage medium and bring it to us as soon as possible.

Files accidentally deleted

Photos, documents or folders deleted, including after emptying the recycle bin.

Storage accidentally formatted

Hard drive, memory card or USB drive reformatted during an installation or transfer.

Hard drive no longer working

Not detected at startup, missing partition or a system unable to mount the volume.

Clicking or grinding hard drive

Repeated mechanical noise: switch off the device immediately, as every restart can cause further damage.

Broken, water-damaged or unresponsive phone

Dead screen, water-damaged device or phone that no longer turns on: the data is often still intact.

SSD or USB drive not recognised

Storage device not visible in the file explorer, or detected with an incorrect capacity.

Unreadable SD or microSD card

Camera, drone or dashcam memory card asking to be formatted every time it is inserted.

Computer or MacBook that no longer starts

We work on computers of all brands, including PCs and MacBooks, even when they no longer start. On some recent models, the storage is soldered to the motherboard: component-level repair may make it possible to recover the data.

02 — Method

Your data almost always survives the device

In most cases we handle, the memory itself is still intact: it is the surrounding electronics that have failed. A damaged connector, a circuit trace corroded by oxidation, or a failed power management component. Replacing the device often means losing the data with it.

Our approach is to restore the board just long enough to access the memory: microsoldering damaged traces, testing with a bench power supply, then extracting the data. This is what makes recovery possible from a water-damaged phone or a MacBook with a soldered SSD.

And when recovery is not possible, we tell you during the diagnosis, before you commit to anything. An honest answer is better than a false promise.

What happens to your data during the recovery process

Handing over a drive means entrusting us with a lifetime of files. Here is exactly what we do with your data — and what we do not do.

Your files are not viewed

We check the integrity of the recovered data, not its content. No previews, no files are opened.

Returned on the storage device of your choice

You can provide an external drive or USB drive, or we can supply one for you.

Secure deletion after your data is returned

Our working copies are securely deleted once your data has been recovered and verified with you.

Complete confidentiality

Your data remains strictly confidential throughout the entire recovery process. It is only accessed when necessary to carry out the operations required for its recovery.

How data recovery works

  1. Step 01

    You bring in your device

With or without an appointment, bring your device or storage medium directly to our workshop. You can also send it to us by post. Tell us what happened and which files you need to recover as a priority.

  2. Step 02

    We diagnose the issue

Free of charge. We identify the type of failure and determine which data can be recovered.

  3. Step 03

    You approve

A fixed price and turnaround time are provided. Without your approval, no work is carried out and your device or storage medium is returned to you.

  4. Step 04

    We return your data

Your files are copied to the storage device of your choice and verified with you before being returned.

Frequently asked questions about data recovery

What should I do immediately after losing files ?
Stop using the storage device and disconnect it. As long as no new data is written to it, deleted files remain physically present. Above all, avoid free recovery software: it can write data to the very device it is supposed to recover, reducing your chances of successful recovery.
Can you recover data from a hard drive that no longer works ?
In most cases, yes. A drive that is no longer detected is often affected by an issue with its electronic board rather than the platters themselves. We test the power supply on our bench, repair the circuit if necessary, and then attempt to read the drive. The diagnosis determines whether the failure is logical or physical.
Can you recover photos from a phone with a broken screen ?
Yes. A non-functioning screen does not affect the phone's memory. Depending on the condition of the device, we temporarily replace the screen for the extraction or work directly on the motherboard. See also our phone repair page.
Can you recover data from a MacBook with a soldered SSD ?
Yes, including Apple Silicon models. Because the storage is soldered directly to the motherboard, extraction must be performed at component level. This is precisely the type of situation where replacing the motherboard would permanently destroy access to the data.
How much does data recovery cost ?
The price depends on the type of failure and the storage device. As the diagnosis is free of charge, you will know the exact cost before committing to the service, and you will not be charged if the data cannot be recovered.
How long does data recovery take ?
Data recovery takes time: you should generally allow between 10 and 30 days, depending on the type of failure and storage device. The estimated turnaround time is stated on the quote, along with the price.
Will my data remain confidential ?
Yes. We verify the integrity of recovered files, never their content. Depending on the complexity of the recovery, your storage device may be entrusted to a specialised partner laboratory subject to the same confidentiality requirements. Our working copies are destroyed once your data has been returned.
